Description
Initialed (I.R.E.) Crouch & Fitzgerald travel case with functioning lock (no key).
circa 1900 – 1950.
Crouch & Fitzgerald was established in 1839 in downtown Manhattan. It was a time when only the rich traveled, and when finely crafted luggage was the order of the day.
The store first became known for its custom-made luggage service when Franklin Delano Roosevelt commissioned a full set of leather luggage embossed with his initials.
Using only the finest leather, skilled craftsmen made these cases by hand- stitching selected hides on steel frames. Genuine Irish linen lined the inside of the cases.
This double-handled medium travel case has solid leather protective corners sewn to the base of the body, and shiny brass lever action locks complete the design.
